It's just a phase, right?

Marcel has been talking about "dead" lately.  It started a few weeks ago. Now it is an everyday occurrence.

Sunday we headed up North to the burbs to check out some different developments in our desired school district. We looked at houses, community centers, pools, playgrounds, and the schools.  Zack later asked Marcel what his favorite part of the outing was, expecting to hear about the pool or the parks. Instead, the following three things were his favorite things of the day: "The dead armadillo, the dead deer, and the dead branch in the middle of the road".

Please tell me this is a normal phase that 4 and a half year old boys go through! It is beginning to be a bit creepy. It's not like he is watching a bunch of shows where people die, he is watching Pokemon, Mucha Lucha, and a bunch of goofy, non-death type movies. When I tell him I don't like to hear him talking about dying he says, very practically, "But we all die Mom". True, but Geez.

Yes, the "dead" thing continues until they learn how to make toy guns with sticks. Then everything is "shot dead". I shot the sofa dead. I shot the dog dead. I shot that.

Then they forget all about the dead and shot stuff and stare at girls until they are 40.

Then they try to run a marathon. :)
