New house comfort - up a notch

When we moved into our house we decided to get rid of the old furniture and start all over. On the day that we closed on the house, we immediately went over to the furniture store picked out a new couch and chair. I fell in LOVE with the chair when I first saw it, but it was covered in a leopard print fabric which was not fitting with my "greens, reds, and yellows" plan for our living room. I had to pick out a different fabric and special order the chair...and unfortunately wait 6-8 weeks to get it. That was on March 17th. Fortunately we bought the couch that was on the showroom floor, so we had something to sit on for the past 2 months...

So- up until today, we've had just the couch to sit on when reading or watching TV. With three of us (one of us being 5 and very squirmy) that just isn't comfortable. It also looks dorky for us all to be mushed on this couch, with the rest of the living room empty.

Well, finally the first chair is here! And looks even better than I imagined! I love it love it love it. This house is coming together little by little... Next to fill the empty dining room...

Big Plans

So, as you probably know we finally bought a house after renting for years. And, with that we had to by a lawnmower and edger because at the rentals we didn't need to mow the lawn... The last place had landscapers do it for us, and the previous place in Hyde Park...well they didn't mow it for us, and neither did we...we just payed a homeless man on the street to do it for us occasionally.

The occasion of Zack's first mowing experience as a homeowner was picture- worthy of course- I feel the need to document these things, so I snapped a few photos of him in the backyard.

Here I was trying to frame this great picture, and as I backed up to get the perfect photo, I felt into a hole made by the previous removal of a dead tree...

Oops.

Next up, the perfect shot!

Looks as though some crap flew up into his eyes. Poor Zack...but I can't stop laughing every time I see this photo!

A little more insight into the backyard....The folks who previously owned the house had 3 small children. The yard was not a priority...as you can tell by looking at the flower bed with no flowers. So, we need to do much work on the backyard and the fence. Before Zack could even mow we had to comb the entire backyard for broken plastic toys, twigs, and tree trimmings ... we ended up with about 3 few bags full of stuff!

Just wait, it may take a while, but I am going to get that yard looking awesome.
