Man, it is a ton of fun having 2 dogs. Salado seems so much happier (no that he was unhappy before, of course). He even appears to know that he needs to set a "good example" for the puppy and his example appears to be working- Rock! is primarily doing his business outside instead of on the "wee wee pads". He is not housebroken yet- but seems to be moving closer to it every day. Salado and Rock! wrestle together and fight over the chew toys all day (just like siblings), then quietly curl up together on dog bed at night. Pretty darn cute.
I have realized something; while Rock!'s long fuzzy fur makes him incredibly adorable and huggable, it also attracts mucho outside junk. Leaves, sticks, pieces of mulch from the flower bed that never had a chance, cling to him as soon as he steps outside. Half of the junk drops onto the carpet when he comes back inside, the other half stays on the dog. Yesterday while waiting to see the vet, a nice man came up to Rock! to pet him. He pet him for a moment and then made a point to pick 3 or four pieces debris out of his fur. I felt like a neglectful dog parent! I swear I had already removed a handful of twigs and pieces of bark on the way to the vets office...
Other than having a carpet that looks like the floor of a barn, having Rock! around is actually making life easier- Salado is entertained and happy and even seems more mature. Who knew!
